Hot for rest of Wednesday with impact weather ahead Thursday
THANK YOU. AMY. LET’S SEND IT OVER NOW TO 11 NEWS METEOROLOGIST ELENA LI AND ELENA, FORTUNATELY, WE’RE NOT SEEING ANY KIND OF SEVERE WEATHER LIKE WE JUST SAW THERE. BUT TOMORROW IS A WEATHER IMPACT DAY HERE. EXACTLY. MINDY. IN FACT, WE DO HAVE A MARGINAL RISK IN PLACE FOR TOMORROW, THOUGH, BECAUSE THERE IS THE POTENTIAL THAT WE COULD SEE AN ISOLATED, STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOP WITH THE PRIMARY RISK BEING HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND. WE’LL GET MORE ON TO THAT IN JUST A SECOND. RAIN CHANCES AT THE MOMENT FOR THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS, UP AND DOWN WE GO. SO EACH DAY FEATURES SOME CHANCE OF RAIN WITH THE LOWEST CHANCE HAPPENING ON SUNDAY NOW. SO IT LOOKS LIKE THE ENTIRE WEEKEND NOT GOING TO BE A COMPLETE WASHOUT. AND I KNOW THIS IS A BIG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THE UNOFFICIAL START TO SUMMER, AND I THINK WE WILL AT LEAST SEE SOME BREAKS BETWEEN THOSE RAIN CHANCES, AT LEAST ON SUNDAY. FROM WHAT WE’RE EXPECTING HERE FROM THURSDAY, ALL THE WAY TO YOUR SATURDAY, SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE. AND THAT’S ALL DUE TO A COLD FRONT COMING THROUGH, AND IT WILL BE PRETTY MUCH STALLING JUST OVER THE AREA. THAT WILL HELP GENERATE MORE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY AS WE MAKE OUR WAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. HERE’S THE COLD FRONT RIGHT NOW ON OUR SATELLITE AND RADAR. IT IS GOING TO CONTINUE PUSHING EASTWARD THROUGHOUT THROUGHOUT TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW, TRIGGERING THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS AS WE STOP THE CLOCK ON OUR FUTURE CAST HERE AT ABOUT 8 P.M. TONIGHT, THERE IS A CHANCE WE COULD HAVE SOME THUNDERSTORMS. POP UP IN THE MOUNTAINS HERE. SO IN WESTERN MARYLAND, WATCH OUT FOR AT LEAST SOME RUMBLES OF THUNDER, MAYBE EVEN SOME SMALL HAIL EMBEDDED IN THESE THUNDERSTORMS THAT FORM. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS AS WE PUSH THE CLOCK AHEAD, MOVING FURTHER INTO THE EVENING HOURS CLOSER TO MIDNIGHT, AS THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS CONTINUE PUSHING OVER THE BALTIMORE METRO, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY MOST LIKELY WILL BE FALLING APART OR BE AT A WEAKER STATE ONCE THEY GET HERE. JUST CAN’T RULE OUT MAYBE SOME RUMBLES OF THUNDER NOW MOVING INTO TOMORROW MORNING. WE’VE GOT ONE OUT OF TWO ROUNDS OF RAIN JUST FOR THURSDAY ALONE. FIRST ROUND PUSHING IN AFTER SUNRISE BETWEEN EIGHT AND OF COURSE ALL THE WAY THROUGH LUNCHTIME. THAT MAY ACTUALLY HELP STABILIZE THE ATMOSPHERE. AND IF WE KEEP THE CLOUD COVER IN THE NEXT BATCH OF RAIN MAY NOT BE SO STRONG AS YOU SEE HERE. THOSE THUNDERSTORMS COULD DEVELOP OUT WEST. CONTINUE PUSHING EASTWARD THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS, LINGERING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING AND FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON. IT’S ACTUALLY LOOKING A LITTLE DRIER. SO OVERALL, ALL THE IMPACT WEATHER THAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT IS FOR PRIMARILY THURSDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON OR LATE EVENING, I SHOULD SAY. SO THAT TWO ROUNDS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE, ONE IN THE MORNING, ONE IN THE EVENING, ISOLATED OR MARGINAL SEVERE RISK IN PLACE FROM THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER WITH THE BIGGEST THREATS COMING FROM ANY OF THOSE STRONGER STORMS WILL BE DAMAGING WIND OR PERHAPS SOME LARGE HAIL. SO MAKE SURE YOU TUNE IN HERE WITH WBAL-TV 11 WEATHER. SO WE CAN CONTINUE TO FINE TUNE THAT FORECAST FOR YOU. AND AS FAR AS TODAY’S HIGH TEMPERATURES GO, 80 ALMOST 90 DEGREES HERE IN BALTIMORE. THAT’S 10 TO 12 DEGREES ABOVE OUR NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SO A LOT WARMER OUT THERE TODAY. OVERNIGHT INTO TOMORROW, TOPPING OR BOTTOMING OUT IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S CLOSE TO 70 IN A FEW SPOTS. BUT NOT TOO BAD AS WE GET THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING. SO IT’S GOING TO BE PRETTY MILD. LOOK AT THIS SEVEN DAY FORECAST FEATURING THAT SMALL CHANCE FOR RAIN EARLY FRIDAY A BETTER OPPORTUNITY SATURDAY. ANOTHER IMPACT WEATHER DAY FOR YOU. BUT I THINK WE DRY OUT A LITTLE BIT SUNDAY W
